Erstes Lenken durch den Reiter
Eine Phase, die zugegebenermaßen erstmal recht grobmotorisch und unschön aussieht. Aber so ist sie nunmal, die Realität. Die jungen Pferden müssen erst einmal lernen, was die ganzen Hilfen bedeuten. Wie Sie sehen, arbeitet die Reiterin rein über ein deutliches Öffnen des Innenzügels und mit einer starken eigenen Körperdrehung. Unterstützt und „übersetzt“ wird die Hilfe vom Longenführer, der dem Pferd am Boden den Weg vorgeht. Durch viele Richtungswechsel lernt Max so zu verknüpfen, dass das Öffnen des Zügels in die jeweilig neue Richtung anzeigt, wo er hingehen soll. Am Anfang wird er noch einfach Bernardo hinterherlaufen, mit der Zeit stellt er aber eine Verbindung zur Zügelhilfe her. Wiederholung ist hier das Zauberwort. Hat Max das Prinzip verstanden, wie er bei Minute 2:28 klar gezeigt hat, wird die Einheit sofort beendet und Max darf eine Nacht über das neu Erlernte schlafen.
Am nächsten Tag ist Max einen riesen Schritt weiter und setzt die Wendungen an der Longe schon gut um. Das Prinzip des öffnenden Zügels hat er weitestgehend verstanden.

The riders starts to steer
Yes this phase admittedly looks quite gross and ugly at first. But that’s the way it is, it’s reality. The young horses have to learn „what do these aids mean to me?“. Watch the video – the rider focus on clearly opening the inner reins and a strong rotation of her own body to show the direction. We support this aid and „translate“ it with help of the lunge leader, who precedes the horse on the ground. Through many changes of direction, Max learns to connect that opened rein means to follow the new direction and shows him where he should go. In the beginning he will just run after Bernardo, the lunge leader, but step by step he will understand and connect the new direction with the rein aids. Repetition is the magic for young horses. If Max has understood the principle, as he clearly shows at minute 2:28, the unit ends immediately and Max can process his new learned things in the night.
The next day Max is a huge step further and is already doing the turns on the lunge line quite well. He has understood the principle of the opened and sideways leading rein.
