Sarah Leitner with Christina Wunderlich (Part 1/4) – Mobilization including detailed explanation (EN)
Sarah Leitner introduces the Knabstrupper Indiana Jones, stallion, 5 years old, to Christina Wunderlich, the manager of Oliveira Stables, in a lesson. The mobilization in hand must be carried out consistently correctly, and the same must be done under the rider. Hand without leg, and leg without hand right from the start! This is the basis for everything that comes later. For example, in the later canter changes – how do you want to ride a horse properly in the canter changes if you cannot move the horse’s weight cleanly from right to left or vice versa in the mobilization? The key to many problems lies in the mobilization and it is always the first thing Christina Wunderlich looks at when problems arise or become apparent. Here she also checks how big the difference is between left and right. This is also always an indication of crookedness.
You can clearly see how the horse gives way to the left leg better and more easily, but at the same time cannot cross as well with the left hind leg, and the hock has a clear tendency to graze. This is a sign that the horse is also stiff on the left side, is lying on its left shoulder and is hollow on the right. We need to know all of this for later training.
